First and foremost

Truly, the music for this trailer is just epic; it has an uplifting tone (as the manga does; yes, there are darker moments but this is an overall story of happiness), with clear adventure tones and heroic vibes .

So what did I see in this trailer beyond the perfect vibes?

Chapter 1

Luffy’s origin town, an idyllic place with windmills. And I loved the colors they choose for this location, saturated, providing a sense of security.

We also see Shanks’ ship anchored to the port here.

Chapter 2

The Going Mary! While initially the crew does not have a ship for their adventures, they eventually get an iconic one - with the sheep at the prow (instead of a more traditional mermaid).

Chapter 3

Introduce Luffy, with his iconic scar (and I wonder if the episodes will also show how Luffy gets it) and the even more iconic lines of wanting to be king of the pirates

Chapter 4

First look at the Baratie; different than in the manga, but wonderful to watch. It is a complex ship with multiple entries and exits. I just cannot wait to see Zepp in live action. The casting felt quite spot on and this was before hair and make up!

Chapter 5

First view on the naval fortress where Luffy and Zoro meet for the first time and it is glorious. I would immediately want to move to this town!

Chapter 6

Introduce Zoro! And a pretty faithful adaptation of how Luffy finds him the first time, including positioning and piercing look (appropriately, without bandana and gory blood)

Chapter 7

Captain Morgan is creeping in the background

Chapter 8

Zoro fights with a 2-sword style

Chapter 9

Intoduce Nami and her demeanor.

Chapter 10

Sea monster and he is finally scary!

Chapter 11

Introduce (the back of) Shanks!!!! And since I like spoiling things for myself (and yet, I would not have been able to keep still if I did not), I saw who was cast in the role and it was double thumbs up for me!

Chapter 12

Lady Alvida’s crew and ship join the trailer; an iconic aspect of the manga has always been the ability to personalize crew, ships, pirate flags to the captain of the ship and I love that we are seeing it here.

Chapter 13

Introduce Buggy the clown! Soooo creepy, easily the cousin of IT

Chapter 14

We sense the crew dynamic for the first time and it seems to capture the vibes of the early days of the team perfectly.

Chapter 15

Garp’s ship!

Chapter 16

Introduce USOPP (minus the long nose but it feels the right choice overall)!!!

Chapter 17

Luffy drowning - key in the story, as he ate the gum gum fruit!

Chapter 18

Introduce Sanji and he is just perfect!

Chapter 19

We are seeing a little introduction to Luffy’s powers!

Chapter 20

Zoro with his 3-sword style!

What else have you spot? What is the screen shot that made you excited? For me, scary Pirate Captain Buggy the Clown is fascinating (and I hope it will be a scary take on him, as he otherwise would just be a joke).
