Episode 2 - Soldiers in fantasy

Welcome back, gentle reader (yes, I was bit by the Bridgerton bug) !

Let’s restart: welcome back, explorer of fantasy worlds!

In this post, I want to give you additional tools to find and research the books that I discuss in the soldiers in fantasy episode over in Fantasy Explorations, second episode!

The first series we talked about is The War for the Rose Throne by Peter McLean.

The series includes four books, starts with Priest of Bones, Priest of Lies, Priest of Gallows and Priest of Crowns.

The second series we talk about is the Malazan Book of the Fallen, by Steven Erikson. This is a 10-part series, starting with: Gardens of the Moon (which is the same book that I geeked about in the intro episode too!) and continues with: Deadhouse Gates, Memories of Ice, House of Chains, Midnight Tides, The Bonehunters, Reaper’s Gale, Toll the Hounds, Dust of Dreams and The Crippled God.

The third series we talk about is The Shadows of the Apt by Adrian Tchaikovsky. This is another wonderful story built over ten books, with an imaginative world building!

It starts with Empire in Black and Gold, continues with Dragonfly Falling, Blood of the Mantis, Salute the Dark, The Scarab Path, The Sea Watch, Heirs of the Blade, The Air War, War Master’s Gate and finishes with Seal of the Worm.

Last but not least, there is the Deed of Paksennarion by Elizabeth Moon; this is a trilogy, with Sheepfarmer’s Daughter, Divided Allegiance and Oath of Gold.

I hope you enjoyed this episode and found new books to read and worlds to explore!
