BookTubers to watch
There is something special and unique about being part of a reading community. There is something magnetic about being able to share opinions about books, share positives and negatives (as long as it is done in a constructive way, for my taste).
There is also something magical about watching YouTube videos when there is exposure to new books, series and points of view!
So I thought it would be good to have a recurring list of BookTubers with content that I love and/or enjoy!
This is not a list of most to least important BookTuber, everyone presents a whimsical perspective and I will try to highlight their unique point of view and why I enjoy their channels!
I also find that women are fairy underrepresented in this space so I want to make sure I highlight content creators that. provide me with something while watching their content! I listed them below with links to their YouTube channels for you to check them out!
Well rounded fantasy exposure
Mike’s Books Reviews - he has a pretty wide knowledge of fantasy and offers significant horror and thriller experience
Petrik Leo - he has an extensive knowledge if the genre
Philip Chase - he also an author and a college professor, always gentle and positive in his reviews; plus he has quite a lot of content and knowledge about the Malazan world!
Matt’s Fantasy Book Reviews - he is pretty engaging in the way he reviews books and it is a relatively smaller channel
Madison Goodyear - she offers a unique perspective to fantasy with her flair
Niki Hawkes - the Obsessive Bookseller - she has a great fantasy knowledge, especially in connection with older fantasy
Tori Morrow - I truly love watching her comments to books, as she offers insights on books that I did not think about before
On top of well rounded fantasy: YA
MelReads - she is so bubbly and has so much personality and a very positive take on books!
PeruseProject - she is a staple for BookTube and I enjoy watching her vlogs; she makes reading fantasy a normal part of her day and this is empowering!
On top of well rounded fantasy: Forgotten realm
Rodger’s Reads - I felt in love with his channel at the beginning of the year and I am always watching his videos, no matter the content!
On top of well rounded fantasy: Indie
dominish_books - he is quite involved in the fantasy community and he also provides more highlights for indie fantasy authors!
On top of well rounded fantasy: Historical fiction and/or mythology
The Brothers Gwynne - sons to papa Gwynne, they are incredibly well rounded readers; plus they really have a passion for historical fiction and every time I watch their videos I come up with new books to read and explore!
Jean’s Thoughts - she is very experienced reader, with incredibly deep knowledge of Ancient Greece. I just love hearing her talking about mythology!
Well rounded channels
Brian Lee Durphy Reviews - he is a lot; in fairness, he is an acquired taste for me. Yet, he is a reader (not to mention an author of a great trilogy) with wide and different taste and, whatever genre you enjoy, he will have reviewed many books in the genre. And he is an incredibly positive reviewer!
Bookslikewhoa - she is such a prolific reader and content creator! I just love listening her talking about books; I feel like I get smarter (or, when I feel down, that I am not even remotely as smart as she is).
Classics focus
Jennifer Brooks - I just love her take on classics; she is truly quite knowledgeable and she has less exposure compared to other classics channels.
As mentioned above this an initial list of channels and this could be a recurring feature on this blog, as long as there is interest for it (or there are channels that take my heart away)!
